I signed up with A Small Orange despite seeing many bitter reviews on the internet. I've been using ASO shared (small) plan for 3 months. Never experienced any issue with their service. I've monitored my website uptime with J... Mere etpack plugin of wordpress and tested speed, server response time regularly. Never experienced any downtime in last 3 months. Pingdom shows my website is faster than the 98% website. Actually, so far I'm very happy with their service.
It is true that their support ticket is very slow and they took almost two weeks to reply my ticket about registering a new domain. But I never had to wait more than 3 minutes to get live chat support. My ticket was solved instantly via live chat.
Another good thing about ASO is their server name and user area interface is very unique and user friendly.
Hope ASO will remain consistent with their good service. Best wishes for ASO team!

HawkHost are, in my opinion, genuinely amazing.
I am the type of person who reads tons of reviews for finding a product or a service which is the best fit for what I need, so I read tons of reviews on them before using them, ... Mere which was for the first time in 2018, when I had a website with them for a year - before I suspended for a while that start-up.
Well, I read tons of reviews on other similar services and companies, and I can say that HawkHost had the best reviews - and they still have - written by both techie guys and non-techie, like me. There were so many good reviews and still are on them, from people happy with both the technical aspects, and with the Customer Service. It is obvious that, for non-techie persons like me, a brilliant Customer Service means a lot, because how else could we be "saved" when we meet problems on the way? I mean, you other non-techie guys out there: you know very well what I mean: for us, even some simple beautiful technical jargon is like beautiful Chinese! yesterday, Wade literally saved me, with a great attitude and a great help, with things that I cannot even know how to explain to you, all I can tell you is that I will be finally able to start using my website for my new store!
BUT also, I confess I was and I will always be interested in the opinions of the other clients who understand what is about, clearly they have strong positions from where they can express what they feel and think about the services they receive, and I just read another opinion like this moments ago and again it confirmed to me that so many of these customers appreciate so much HawkHost  and see even more than what I see!
I would say, it is a winning card: what they do is genuinely exceptional. How they do it: genuinely amazing. I know that you cannot please everybody, nobody can, but they have so many Customers happy with them. And they will have many more, with such quality and attitude.

Update: one day later, I want to thank you to Brian as well :) for even more support and greatest attitude, I know I must have been a bit of headache, with my lack of some skills and my need for support, but I cannot say enough how grateful I am that I received this support, I can start my business now and you've been AMAZING!!! THANK YOU!!!!

Customer support has really gone downhill. Not what they used to be.

When they first started, they were one of the best. However, like so many others, they sold out. Even after new ownership, I still stuck with them because I'm loyal. After finding out my $140 plan didn't include SSL, and th... Mere at they wanted to charge me an additional $40 per year for just that feature, I decided it was time to move on. That wasn't my only reason though. Support wait times have been increasing and the chat experience was getting worse. Simple questions were taking almost 10 or more minutes to get answered. Since I was only a few days into my renewal period, I didn't think it would be a problem asking for a refund or if they would prorate my account. They refused it. So that's the treatment I received after being a loyal customer for 13 years. They really could care less. Stay away from this company. There are much better hosting options out there that offer better and quicker customer support and features. Mindre

Avoid them as you can. After 8 years of being their customer, hundreds of $ spent, after a little, few months break, I decided to buy some simple shared hosting for a couple of my landing pages for domains I'm going to sell. ... Mere
And AFTER I ordered the hosting and PAID for everything for TWO YEARS in advance using PayPal, they contacted me saying, that they refuse to provide the service because I used a VPN!!! Can you imagine? 3/4 of TECH YouTubers advertise VPNs, recommend using them all the time, but HawkHost has not noticed that yet in 2022, and accuses and insults it's own customers! PayPal, Amazon, Google, banks, even this TrustPilot - nobody has problem with VPNs, but them!
So why didn't they just block that possibility, with an information to the customer to disconnect from VPN and try again? Why? Because they simply don't know HOW, they are unprofessional and they fear of VPNs, which means, that they must have been badly hacked or exploited by hackers using VPNs multiple times in the past. They still don't know how to defend themselves from that, so they primitively accuse all people using VPNs of bad intentions.
I also spotted, that they don't add VAT to any invoices for EU customers, so if you live in Europe, be prepared for significant price increase in the near future, because I'm going to report that. This is, by the way, an unfair competition against other hosting companies, who pay their taxes to the EU.
