Admin access means you can manage the remote Windows environment with administrator privileges. Depending on the provider’s restrictions, this may include installing applications, changing system settings, managing services, configuring security options, and creating user accounts.
Prices vary by provider, Windows license, and server resources. Basic plans may cost around 6–20 per month, while servers with more RAM, CPU power, or managed services can cost considerably more. Always check renewal pricing and additional fees.
It can be safe when configured correctly. Use strong, unique passwords, enable multi-factor authentication when available, restrict remote access through firewall rules, install security updates, and avoid exposing RDP unnecessarily to the public internet. The provider’s security practices also matter.
You can generally install software that is compatible with the server’s Windows version and allowed by the provider. Some applications require additional licenses, more resources, or specific Windows editions. Providers may also restrict certain activities under their acceptable-use policies.
A Windows VPS is a virtual server running Windows. RDP is the protocol commonly used to connect to its graphical desktop. A Windows VPS may include RDP access, but you should verify that the plan provides administrator privileges and the Windows edition you need.
